What’s Inside the Tutorial?

  • A 60-page PDF eBook filled with instructions, photos, diagrams, tips, and inspiration.
  • Step-by-step guidance on how to make a tunic-style sweater.
  • Extra tips on how I create my appliqué art.

This isn’t a technical pattern, but a freestyle tutorial. It’s designed to guide you through the process and encourage your own creativity, rather than provide a traditional cut-out pattern.

What You’ll Need:

  • 4-thread overlocker/serger (recommended)
  • 4 cones of thread
  • Sewing machine (optional)
  • Pins
  • Sewing needle
  • Sharp sewing scissors
  • Tape measure (optional)
  • 5–10 sweaters
  • Denim jeans or recycled fabric pieces (optional)
  • Buttons for decoration (optional)

No Overlocker/Serger?
Not a problem! A serger makes the process easier, but you can also use a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine—or even stitch it by hand if you prefer.

Who Is It For?

  • Perfect for those who have upcycled knitwear before and have some experience using a sewing machine or overlocker/serger.
  • Beginners are welcome too! With patience, you can stitch by hand or use your sewing machine with a zigzag stitch.
  • The tutorial is designed to be easy to follow, with plenty of photos, clear step-by-step guidance, and links to short, fun videos.

Whatever your experience level, this is about having fun and enjoying the making process.

What Sizes Can I Make?
The tutorial doesn’t include set sizes, but the method can easily be adapted to create tunics for children through to adult plus size.
