  • 4-thread overlocker/serger (recommended)
  • 4 cones of thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Pins

  • 4–10 sweaters
  • Lightweight wool or cotton fabric
  • Denim jeans (optional)
  • Elastic
  • Buttons for decoration (optional)

No Overlocker/Serger?
Not a problem! A serger makes the process quicker and easier, but you can also use a zigzag stitch on your regular sewing machine—or even stitch it by hand if you’re patient.

  • Beginners are very welcome too! With patience, you can stitch by hand or use a zigzag stitch on your sewing machine.

What Sizes Can I Make?

The tutorial doesn’t include set sizes, but the method can easily be adapted to create skirts for children through to adult plus size.
